upset, iron-induced constipation and iron burp-back. |
| In fact, the Institute of Medicine has established 45 mg of daily iron intake as the maximum
level of iron that is likely to pose no risk of adverse effects, such as GI side effects. (33) Be
sure to check the label for the amount of iron, some prescription prenatal vitamins contain twice the recommended tolerable upper intake level (up to 90 mg) of iron which can cause uncomfortable iron-related side effects. (22, 23) |
